A “social” e-mail program?

If you’re a member of many social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, try out Inbox2 (http://www.inbox2.com). It’s a free program which collects all your communication, and the people you communicate with, into one single, synchronised application that’s accessible everywhere. Inbox2 brings together all your messages, documents, links and contacts from these accounts in one convenient place and allows you to read, reply and search without having to login to multiple accounts. You can plug in your existing e-mail accounts (IMAP and POP3), but it also displays the messages from your social networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Hyves, Yammer, Twitter). These networks stand out from the rest through their special icons. You can also import both your e-mail and social network contacts. Click on a contact to see all the details plus an overview of their status updates and messages.

When you’ve joined a number of social networks, try out Inbox2. This free tool collects all your e-mail and social network communication in one single application.
