Drawing on Google Maps
GmapGIS (http://www.gmapgis.com) is a handy webtool which enables you to mark or draw on a Google Maps map. This service doesn’t even require registration. At the top of the screen, there’s a menu bar listing all the options - for instance, the “binoculars” icon lets you look up a specific location. You can draw lines on the map or insert markers or labels. You can also define a given area using a rectangle or a random shape (polygon). In addition, GmapGIS lets you find co-ordinates (click on the yellow note pad icon - Find street address on any point) or calculate the distance between two points on the map.
We think this new web service may have lots of potentially useful applications, such as marking the place of the shed you want built on your business premises or the different branches of your shop in the region. You can save the result as a downloadable file, but this went wrong in our tests. Tip. You can save your edited map as a URL which you can access again later or share with others.
