Fireworks should be banned!

Blow ‘em up! A recent article in TheDaily Telegraph newspaper would have you believe that the HSE is against Guy Fawkes night and the use of fireworks at any time. It was reported that the sale of fireworks should be restricted to controlled premises, plus it wants people to stand a safe distance from fireworks and ensure that children don’t burn themselves with sparklers. Now, don’t get us wrong, we’re all for having a pop at the authorities when they go overboard, but this time we’re struggling to see the problem! Encouraging safe use of fireworks is very sensible as there are many accidents each year, not just around November 5. This article is just another example of the press trying to make out that we’ve all gone health and safety mad, when this simply isn’t the case.

The HSE isn’t anti fireworks. In this instance, a newspaper tried to make out that the authorities had gone overboard when this simply isn’t the case. Treating fireworks with care is sensible in our book.
