How to transfer your apps

Now that the iPhone 5 is available everywhere, you might be thinking of replacing your old device with a new one. But how do you transfer your apps from one device to the other? When you launch your new iPhone (or iPad) for the first time, you will see two options: use an existing backup copy, or configure as a new device. To transfer your apps, choose Restore from Backup. And when you select Restore from iCloud Backup, you don’t even need to turn on your computer. Note. The condition is that you should have made a backup of all your data to iCloud.

What if you don’t want to transfer all apps to your new device but only a selection? Connect it to your computer and launch iTunes. In the left-hand panel, click on the icon representing your iPhone or iPad (in Devices), select Apps at the top and in Sync Apps select the apps you wish to synchronise.

You can transfer apps to your iPhone or iPad even without turning on your computer (via iCloud). To copy specific apps, however, you will need to work via iTunes.
