Settlement scheme delays expected

EU Settlement Scheme. We’ve been warned that applicants to the EU Settlement Scheme should expect processing delays due to coronavirus. Documents will no longer be accepted by post and this has been the case since 25 March 2020. This also means that documents that were posted before that date may be delayed in being returned to applicants.

Points-based immigration scheme. From 1 January 2021 the new points-based migration scheme will be introduced and will include EEA nationals for the first time. Points will be assigned for specific skills, qualifications, salaries and shortage occupations. Visas are then awarded to those who gain enough points. Employers who wish to take advantage of the scheme will have to become sponsors. For the guidance on becoming a sponsor, see Follow up .
