ICO’s IT security checklists for homeworkers
New guidance. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has published new IT security checklists for employers who currently have staff working from home (see The next step ). These checklists aren’t exhaustive, but they do cover the common IT vulnerabilities which the ICO often sees exploited in homeworking settings.
Secure solutions. As well as identifying what remote working policies and procedures you should have in place for your temporary and permanent homeworkers, the security checklists give advice on own devices, cloud storage, remote desktops, remote access to workplace software applications and email. Where relevant, the ICO signposts to other useful guidance. The ICO is also reminding employers that staff should not use any personal accounts for the storage and/or transmission of any work-related data.
