Fee for intervention

Costly non-compliance. The HSE’s fee for intervention (FFI) scheme enables it to recoup the cost of an inspector’s time if there’s evidence of a material breach of health and safety legislation.

Pay rise. The latest version of the regulations covering the FFI scheme are the Health and Safety and Nuclear (Fees) Regulations 2021 . Under these the HSE’s fees have increased by 2.2% from 1 April 2021, bringing the rate to £160 per hour.

Be aware that the hourly cost for an HSE inspector’s time under the fee for intervention scheme has risen to £160 from 1 April 2021.
