Flashers & escorts

This summer, don’t assume the long delays on the road to your holiday destination are caused by caravans. To help improve the safety of roadworks the Highways Agency are introducing new flashing cones and escort convoys authorised by the Department for Transport. The new cones have flashing lights attached, which will lead traffic through new lane layouts. They’ll be used on all roads, including those under the control of the Highways Agency, mainly at the starting point of roadworks. The escort convoys will be specialist trucks with lighted signage on the back. They’ll be used to guide traffic slowly through roadworks.

Watch out, it won’t just be caravans that you may get stuck behind this summer! Don’t ignore these new Highways Agency vehicles.
