Planning your city trip
Are you planning a city trip or just a few days off? Surf to the new Plnnr (http://www.plnnr.com). This website rightly calls itself “your personal tour guide”. This is how the system works: first select a destination (currently only 18 world cities - from London to Washington DC). Next, indicate when exactly you’re planning to visit this city. In the third step, select one of four themes: With kids, Outdoors, Culture and The best of (the latter option is designed for a first visit to a city). Next, set the desired “intensity”: from Light (“here to rest”) to Extreme (“see everything”). In the fifth and final step, you can set the number of stars you wish for your hotel (this is completely optional, but if you wish you can book directly via a partner site).
On the basis of all this information, Plnnr will now draw up a tailor-made programme of activities. Everything is charted neatly on a Google Map, including the route description and the times (taking account of travelling, opening hours of museums and shops, etc.). In addition, you’re given lots of background information, and you can modify everything yourself, for instance by adding or removing certain activities (via Select Attractions). If you’re satisfied with the city trip suggested, you can print the plan or save it online (after free registration).
Another useful service, which we reviewed earlier, is Qfly (http://www.qfly.nl). Enter the starting point and your budget, and the service will search through more than 100 million online tickets from European low-cost airlines for possible destinations. Quite convenient if you’ve run out of inspiration!
