Top Gear on electric cars

Test drive. When Top Gear presenters, Jeremy Clarkson and James May, recently tested electric cars they identified that they have a limited range and charging them is far from easy. Apart from the fact that there are hardly any charging points (especially not in East Anglia), when you find one, you’re in for a long wait - up to eleven hours.

Tip. As their test proves, electric cars might be suitable for short city runs, but if you want to travel further afield, the technology and the infrastructure isn’t in place yet.

A Top Gear “test” identified that although electric cars might be fine for short city runs, a long journey in one isn’t practical as there are few charging points and the charge time is excessive.
