Lost attachments?

Needle vs haystack. Are you looking for an attachment you received a while ago? If you remember the subject of the message, it’s easy to find the attachment. However, if you can’t remember the subject, it’s like searching for a needle in a haystack, especially if you’ve already moved the e-mail and its attachment to another folder. If you know who the sender was, Outlook 2010 users have a handy function at their disposal: the “People Pane”. When you click on a message, this pane will open together with the preview window at the bottom - if you don’t see this pane, click on the View tab and activate the People Pane option.

How can this help you? In order to find the e-mail plus attachment you’re looking for, click on a random message from the same sender. The People Pane will show all kinds of information about this person, for instance appointments in your calendar. In addition, there are tabs showing an envelope and a paperclip. Click on them, and you will see all the e-mails and attachments you’ve received from this person. Tip. The e-mails you’ve moved to other folders are shown in this list.

Use the People Pane in Outlook 2010 in order to locate an attachment on the basis of who sent it.
