Updated VAT guide

Notice 700. There have been major changes in the VAT rules in recent years, particularly where overseas sales are involved. HMRC has therefore decided that it’s high time it updated its Notice 700 , also known as the VAT guide.

What is it about?Notice 700 is a good starting point if you’re looking for answers to most VAT questions. It provides a general and usually brief outline and, where appropriate, points you in the direction of additional official guidance.

Accessing the guide. The Notice can now be found on GOV.UK (see The next step ). It therefore has the drawback of not being downloadable. We suggest that if you want to keep a copy of the guidance, cut and paste it into a text document.
