BUSINESS - BUSINESS TRIPS - 28.10.2016

A digital travelling guide on your smartphone

Google Trips (in Apple App Store or Google Play) is a new free app for iOS and Android which assists you during business or city trips. After entering your travel destination, you click through to Things to do and Food & Drink to obtain tips and reviews. These recommendations are partly based on your personal profile and your Google history. You can mark interesting places with a star: these will be put in Saved Places .

Reservations. Have you booked flight tickets, rented a car or booked a hotel room in advance? With a bit of luck, Google Trips will have distilled all the relevant information from your e-mails (via Gmail) and collected it in the Reservations section. This is similar to Tripit ( http://www.tripit.com ), which we reviewed previously.

Tip. For around 200 big cities and sights Google Trips offers extra features. In Day Plans you will discover suggestions for outings, including a route guide, while Getting Around lets you find out more about, e.g., your arrival at the airport, public transport, traffic rules and signs, the car park rates, etc.

Offline? Google Trips gives you a fully-fledged digital city guide. Even better, all the information is available offline (avoiding high roaming costs). To download the information to the app in advance, click on Create Trip .

Install the Google Trips app for recommendations for your business or city trips. Your reservations are saved here as well. All the information is available offline too.
