Must the training be UKATA approved?

Q. We’ve been told that asbestos awareness training must be United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) approved. Is this right?

A. There’s no legal requirement for it to be UKATA approved. UKATA is just one of the bodies that approves asbestos training. Others include the Independent Asbestos Training Providers.

There are a number of bodies that approve asbestos awareness courses. They include the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association and the Independent Asbestos Training Providers.
