Summer water shortages on the cards?

Be prepared. According to Southern Water, the country has had a year of dry weather - South East England in particular. This is despite the storms and heavy rainfall at the end of December 2017 and into the New Year.

In numbers. According to the water company, there was 25% less rainfall than normal across the winter. Rainfall in October was particularly light at 63% of its normal volume. Therefore, groundwater levels are low (although reservoir levels are currently much more healthy).

The impact? We think there is a strong possibility of water restrictions - especially in the south east - during the summer of 2018.

Southern Water has identified that despite the heavy rainfall at the end of 2017, overall the winter was very dry. Expect restrictions to be imposed through the summer of 2018.
