iMessage: not just on your iPhone
You’re familiar with iMessage as Apple’s proprietary messaging system for your iPhone - you can recognise it by the blue text in your Messages app. But did you know that you can also receive and send iMessages on other devices?
Mac. In the Applications folder on your Mac computer or laptop, you will find a similar Messages application. It allows you to log in with the same Apple ID as on your iPhone via Preferences ; Accounts . After logging in you will be able to receive and send your iMessages from both devices.
Android. Interestingly, iMessage can even run on Android devices, via AirMessage ( https://www.airmessage.org ).
Note. You will need a Mac for this to work as you have to install a server application on it. Plus, your computer or laptop must not be switched off (not even in sleep mode). At https://airmessage.org/guide you will find an installation manual, and there’s a handy YouTube instruction video ( http://bit.ly/32yOeBJ ) that will guide you through the installation process.
Note. AirMessage is a free tool and doesn’t contain ads.
Windows. It is possible to receive and send iMessages on a Windows computer. iGeeks Blog ( http://bit.ly/2pGKgZu ) reviews two possibilities. The first method, via the Chrome Remote Desktop extension, also requires a Mac. The second option, using the iPadian tool ( https://ipadian.en.softonic.com ), is more straightforward.
