WORKING AT HEIGHT - 23.04.2024

Fall prevention awareness week

The first ever “No Falls Week” is taking place between 13 and 17 May 2024. What’s it about and should your company get involved?

Statistics. It’s estimated that over 10m workers carry out working at height tasks every year. Falls from height are consistently the leading cause of workplace fatalities in the UK and were responsible for 30% of all workplace deaths in 2022-2023. There were also just under 50,000 non-fatal falls from height in the same period.

No Falls Week. The No Falls Foundation, the UK’s only charity for the working at height sector, is launching a new campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of safe working at height. Whether you work in construction, manufacturing or any other sector, the campaign aims to equip you with the knowledge, tools and inspiration to prevent falls and ensure everyone that works at height comes down safely.

The campaign. By signing up to No Falls Week you can access free resources including toolkits, posters, videos and guidance to share with staff and shine a spotlight on safe working at height. For a link to the free documents, see The next step .

Tip. Even if you don’t sign up to the official No Falls Week, it’s still a good idea to raise awareness of the dangers. Refreshing staff on the importance of working safely at height demonstrates your commitment to creating a safer workplace and preventing serious injuries. To use our Safety Briefing - Working at Height , see The next step .

Tip. The No Falls Foundation is a charity dedicated to preventing falls from height and helping people affected by the consequences of a fall. If you have had an employee affected by a serious fall, contact the charity to access advice on how you can support your injured employee. For more information on the charity, see The next step .

The inaugural No Falls Week presents a chance for you to prioritise safety when working at height. Promote awareness by utilising our safety briefing to encourage your staff to employ secure work practices and avoid potential falls.
