New P45 form

All change. HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is reminding employers that since April 6 2009 they must use the new P45 form when an employee leaves. The old forms are no longer valid. They’re now A4 in size and include date of birth and gender fields for you to complete. HMRC says this new form will make it much easier for them to match an employee’s information with their own records when the forms are processed, which will reduce the number of queries they send to employers.

Unfamiliar. It’s possible that your employees may query the new P45 forms as they won’t recognise them. You can reassure them that apart from the new information fields (that must be completed), they’ve only changed in appearance. Everything else stays the same.
