Do staff believe in climate change?

What’s to know? A recent survey carried out by YouGov for The Times newspaper has revealed that less than half of the population believe that human activity is to blame for global warming. In fact, almost one in ten say that it’s environmentalist propaganda to blame man for global warming. Interestingly, Conservative voters are the most sceptical with only 38% accepting that man is to blame, compared with 45% of Labour supporters, and 47% of Liberal Democrat. Why the sudden change?

Confusion. The past five years have seen green issues climb the ladder politically, commercially and publicly. The majority of the public are aware of green issues, but this doesn’t mean that everyone accepts them - or will change their lifestyles accordingly. There could be a number of reasons for the results, including confusion, the recession or over-exposure to the issue in the media.

Tip. Although this survey could be exaggerating the extent of the scepticism, it’s important to realise that not everyone believes that going green is the right thing to do. If you’re planning green campaigns, promotions, events, products etc., then aim to involve staff and tell your customers about it, but don’t force it upon them.

This survey has identified that many don’t believe that man is to blame for climate change. However, don’t let this stop you from going green - doing so saves money etc., just don’t ram it down people’s throats.
