FLEXIBLE WORKING - 09.09.2014

Most want flexible working at home

At least one quarter. Apparently, 26% of employees plan to submit some form of flexible working request to their employer in the next twelve months. Although it can include job sharing, part-time hours, term-time working and compressed hours, the most popular flexible working, by far, is homeworking. This may be on a full-time basis, a few days per week or as and when needed by the employee.

Tip. To help you weigh up this type of request, Acas has produced a new free guide (see The next step ). It covers suitability of the role and the employee (not all are great matches for homeworking), supervision, equipment, team working and general management issues.
