ABSENTEEISM - 28.06.2016

11 July 2016 is the perfect day for a sickie!

Sporting events. Sunday 10 July 2016 is an important date in the sporting calendar. Firstly, we have the last day of Wimbledon where the men’s final, which is always a popular event, is scheduled to start at 2.00pm. This is followed by the Euro 2016 cup final - that football match is due to commence at 8.00pm and could last until gone 10.00pm.

Sore heads. Due to the timing of these events, you may not receive any requests for time off. However, your sport-loving employees who overdo the booze could well cause you a severe headache the next day, i.e. Monday 11 July 2016, by calling in sick. If we’re in the midst of a hot British summer, the risk of sickies is likely to increase.

Tip. Warn your employees that, whilst you don’t wish to spoil their fun, you will be monitoring sickness absence closely on this particular day. You can also invite them to apply for annual leave in advance if they think that they may be feeling a little worse for wear.

As the Wimbledon and Euro 2016 finals are being held on Sunday 10 July 2016, Monday 11 July 2016 is a prime day for sickness absence. Warn your employees that you will be monitoring it closely and invite those who think they may be worse for wear to take annual leave.
