HMRC 2017/18 P11D guidance released

Benefits and expenses. As an employer you’re required to report benefits and expenses provided or paid to employees and directors on Forms P11D . For 2017/18 the deadline for submitting these is 6 July 2018.

Latest guidance. HMRC’s guide on how to complete Forms P11D for 2017/18 was slow in arriving, but it’s now available online (see The next step ). It’s a useful starting point if you have questions about what and how much to report to HMRC and in our view is much under used. If you haven’t checked out the guide recently it’s worth doing before completing the 2017/18 forms, especially because there have been significant changes in the last couple of years to what you should report, e.g. for payrolled benefits in kind or those provided in conjunction with salary sacrifice schemes (HMRC now calls these optional remuneration arrangements).

For a link to HMRC’s updated P11D guide for 2017/18, visit http://tipsandadvice-business.co.uk/download (CD 19.15.08).

Somewhat later than usual, HMRC’s P11D guide for 2017/18 is now available. Pay special attention to the revised guidance if you’ve used salary sacrifice arrangements or payrolled benefits in kind.
