BASIC PAYE TOOLS - 13.11.2019

Print payslips from Basic PAYE Tools

In its latest user guide to Basic PAYE Tools (BPT) HMRC has indicated that from April 2020 users will be able to print payslips from the PAYE reporting tool. BPT is free filing software that can be used by employers, who have nine or fewer employees over the whole tax year, to meet their RTI obligations. Up until now one of the main drawbacks of BPT has been that it can’t produce payslips. The rationale for this is partly because BPT is free, therefore it can’t be seen to be competing with commercial payroll software products. It is therefore surprising, although welcome, that this new functionality has been added.

From April 2020 HMRC will add payslip printing functionality to its Basic PAYE Tools product.
