Join HMRC’s online forum

Q&A. In August 2017 HMRC launched an online forum for small businesses, although it’s been running a trial since March. The forum allows you to ask questions on a wide range of topics as diverse as starting a business, selling abroad and tax credits. As well as responses from other forum members, HMRC’s technical staff may also post replies to your queries. In our view it’s definitely worth a try.

Registration. We found the registration process clear and simple. Importantly there’s no requirement to provide personal details (and naturally you should exclude these from posts you make), but you can include them in your profile (see The next step ). The only requirements are that you provide a valid e-mail address and username.

HMRC has created an online forum where you can post questions about a wide range of tax issues. Answers can be posted by other users or HMRC staff. You can register and use the service anonymously.
